Nick Saban has known for over a decade that consistently being able to tackle and successfully take down former Alabama running back, Derrick Henry is a chore for any opposing defense no matter how tough they are.
The college football Hall of Famer and former Alabama head coach made this evident after former LSU, now Cleveland Browns defensive back Grant Delpit made light of the task earlier this week when telling reporters that it’s “Not hard’ to corral the 6-foot-3, 245-pound back ahead of the Browns meeting with the Baltimore Ravens this weekend.
“I don’t even know which Cleveland Browns guy said that, but if they had to practice every day against this guy, I guarantee you they’d be the first ones saying I ain’t tackling his ass every day,” Saban said Friday on the Pat McAfee show. “I guarantee it!”
McAfee then told the seven-time national champion that the origin of these comments came from the former LSU defensive back, which prompted Saban to take a free shot at the Tigers.
“An LSU guy,” Saban said. “How many games did they beat us when he played?”
Henry will now have his chance to remind Delpit and the Cleveland defense just how much of a physical specimen he is.
