The Philadelphia Eagles turned the ball over five times in their Monday night loss to the Los Angeles Chargers.
They've now dropped three consecutive games, and it was the fifth game in a row they've failed to score at least 22 points.
Offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo has been under fire for most of the season. That's why head coach Nick Sirianni admitted that he spent more time with the offense this week, and he will continue to do so going forward.
However, Sirianni will continue to have Patullo's back, and this doesn't mean he's going to take playcalling duties away from him.
“I’m the head coach, so my attention goes to places that I feel like it needs to go,” Sirianni said after the game, per Myles Simmons of ProFootballTalk. “This week was with the offense, and I’ll continue to go in there with those guys and grind it out through the weeds with them and continue to move forward with that.”
Patullo will still be in charge of the offense, so those who want him to be demoted should just stop asking.
The Eagles went 4-of-13 on third down and amassed 365 total yards of offense in a game that went to overtime.
They only had the ball for 29:26 minutes, and once again, they failed to use the middle of the field in the passing game.
The Eagles are now just 1.5 games ahead of the Dallas Cowboys in the NFC East, and with an offense that averages just 22.2 points per game, they may not have enough firepower to secure the NFC East pennant this season.
