Nick Sirianni Announces Decision On Eagles Kicker After Brutal Night

The Philadelphia Eagles beat the Washington Commanders on Thursday night but kicker Jake Elliott wasn't a big factor.

Normally, Elliott is one of the more reliable kickers in the league but that wasn't the case on Thursday. He missed two field goals in the first half before missing a extra-point in the fourth quarter.

He did hit his last two extra points but that didn't take away from his struggles.

Despite his struggles, the Eagles are still confident in Elliott moving forward.

“Jake has been so clutch his entire career and his entire time that I’ve been here, too,” Sirianni said, via ProFootballTalk. “Just like I would say to somebody that fumbled or dropped a pass in a moment, ‘We believe in you. You’re going to have to make a kick to help us win this football game.’ He did to get us up 16 points and 8 points or whatever it was. We have so much faith in him and that’s what you do."

Elliott has made 14-of-19 field goals and 25-of-26 extra points this season. Even though he had a bad week, there's a fair chance he'll bounce back in the Eagles' next game since he's been so consistent since entering the league.

Since making his NFL debut in 2017, he's made 85% of his kicks and has only missed 13 extra points.

The Eagles got to 8-2 with their win over the Commanders and are in first place in the NFC East. Even though the Commanders have had a great season, the Eagles have shown that this is still their division, at least right now.

The Eagles will be back in action on November 24 when they play the Los Angeles Rams on the road. Kickoff will be at 8:20 p.m. ET on NBC.
