Nick Sirianni ‘Can’t Guarantee’ A.J. Brown’s Future With Eagles

The future of A.J. Brown with the Philadelphia Eagles remains uncertain after head coach Nick Sirianni stopped short of guaranteeing the star receiver’s return in 2026.

Speaking to local media ahead of the combine, Sirianni expressed mutual interest between Brown and the organization but avoided firm commitments.

“My expectation is he wants to be here,” Sirianni said. “Do I want him to be here? Yes.”

When pressed on whether Brown will definitively suit up next season, Sirianni added, “I can’t guarantee how anything is going to play out into next season.”

Trade Rumors and Front Office Philosophy

Brown’s name has circulated in trade speculation following a 2025 campaign in which he publicly voiced frustration with the Eagles’ offensive structure. Despite that, he recently referred to Philadelphia as “home” and expressed excitement about coaching staff changes.

General manager Howie Roseman echoed Sirianni’s praise, emphasizing how difficult it is to find elite talent. At the same time, Roseman made clear the team’s broader philosophy: listen to everything.

“You go into the league year listening to offers for everything and anything,” Roseman said. “If someone gives you something you didn’t anticipate, you have to at least have the conversation.”

That stance does not signal an active effort to move Brown, but it leaves the door open if an overwhelming offer surfaces.

Production vs. Financial Reality

Brown, 28, has delivered two 1,400-yard seasons in Philadelphia and helped lead the franchise to multiple Super Bowl appearances. Last season, he totaled 78 catches for 1,003 yards and seven touchdowns.

Financially, a trade would be complex. The Eagles would absorb more than $40 million in dead cap if they dealt Brown before June 1, a figure that drops to under $20 million if moved after that date. Any acquiring team would take on a $29 million salary in 2026 plus additional guaranteed money in 2027.

For now, both sides publicly express a desire to continue the partnership. But as Sirianni acknowledged, certainty in the NFL rarely extends beyond the present — and until the offseason unfolds, Brown’s long-term status in Philadelphia remains a storyline to watch.
