Nick Sirianni Has Set One Massive Precedent For Eagles

Nick Sirianni and the Philadelphia Eagles were able to knock off the Minnesota Vikings in Week 2 action on Thursday Night Football to improve to 2-0 on the 2023 season. While the two wins have been great, there have been some concerns about how the team has looked, especially offensively. Jalen Hurts is still one of the most feared quarterbacks in the NFL, but something seems to be a little off so far.

Granted, we’re just two weeks into a season. Sometimes it can take time to get a team firing on all cylinders. There is no reason for panic in Philadelphia, but some fine-tuning definitely needs to be done.

With that being said, something has become abundantly clear throughout Sirianni’s tenure with the Eagles thus far. He has set a major precedent for the offense in his short time as head coach.

Since Nick Sirianni became a head coach in 2021, the Eagles have had 10 games with 200+ rushing yards. The next closest teams are the Browns and Bears with seven 200+ games each.

No team over the past year and a couple of weeks has done anything close to what Sirianni’s team has done on the ground. It’s a modern-looking old-school style of play.

A lot of the Eagles’ success on the ground is due to having a quarterback with the playmaking ability that Hurts has. He is just as capable of throwing 250 yards and two touchdowns as he is rushing for 100 yards and two touchdowns. Add in the fact that the Eagles have a great running game scheme and the ground game is nearly unstoppable.

What better example of that can be shown than what the Eagles did on Thursday night this week against the Vikings. D’Andre Swift stepped into the starting role after having barely any impact on the Week 1 win over the New England Patriots. He carried the football 28 times for 175 yards and a touchdown.

In addition to Swift’s insane game, Boston Scott also racked up 40 yards on five carries and Hurts rushed for 35 yards and two touchdowns on 12 carries.

The Eagles’ offensive line is arguably the best in the NFL and it’s showing with the rushing numbers the team has put up.

All of that being said, don’t expect anything to change with the Eagles anytime soon. Nick Sirianni has the ground game working in Philadelphia and they will continue riding their game-plan towards their goal of getting back to the Super Bowl and hopefully finishing things off with a win this time around.
