Nick Sirianni Makes Opinion On Visiting The White House Clear

Nick Sirianni said he's "really excited" for the Philadelphia Eagles to visit the White House.

Following Philadelphia's Super Bowl victory over the Kansas City Chiefs, false rumors surfaced of the team's decision to forgo a trip to the nation's capital. However, the White House announced earlier in March that the Eagles accepted Donald Trump's invitation.

Sirianni discussed the upcoming visit at the NFL's annual league meetings on Tuesday.

"I'm really excited to go," Sirianni said, per PHLY's Zach Berman. "What an honor to be able to go to the White House. Teams that have been winning the championship have been doing that for a long time, and I'm really honored to go."

The Eagles haven't been one of those teams. Doug Pederson coached the Eagles when they won their first Super Bowl seven years ago. Trump rescinded his invitation after learning that only a few players planned to attend.

Trump condemned the team in his push to vilanize players who protested against racial inequality and police brutality during the pre-game playing of the national anthem.

Right-wing pundits quickly attacked the Eagles for allegedly declining an invitation they had yet to receive. Yet multiple players said they would go if given the opportunity.

Trump predicted a Kansas City Chiefs victory, seemingly because he considered Brittany Mahomes a MAGA supporter, before becoming the first sitting U.S. President to attend the Super Bowl. He saw the Eagles sack Patrick Mahomes six times and force three turnovers in a dominant 40-22 victory at Las Vegas.

If Trump gets his way, many more sports teams must decide whether to visit a White House occupied by a president that a jury found liable for rape. Trump has recently insisted he's "not joking" about his desire to violate the 22nd Amendment by seeking a third term.
