Nico Collins injury update: Houston Texans reveal WR’s status ahead of SNF vs. Detroit Lions

Houston Texans receiver Nico Collins is inactive for Sunday night’s game against the Detroit Lions, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported. It will mark the fifth straight game he has missed with a hamstring injury.

Collins’ absence hurts even more as the Texans are already without Stefon Diggs, who was placed on injured reserve late last month after suffering a torn ACL. Houston will now look to Tank Dell as its No. 1 option with Robert Woods and tight end Dalton Schultz likely the next two.

Collins leads the Texans with 32 catches for 567 yards and three touchdowns on the season despite only playing in five games. The team is off to a 6-3 start but has lost two of its past three games.

The matchup against Detroit is a pivotal one in the NFC standings, as the Lions sit at 7-1 on the and enter the game in first place. They have won six straight games and are favored by 3.5 points.

Last week with both Nico Collins and Diggs sidelined due to injury, Dell led the Texans with six catches for 126 yards on nine targets. Schultz was the second-most targeted player in the offense behind him with six.

Houston has not lost a game at home this season but that will be put to the test Sunday against the Lions. Kickoff is set for 7:20 p.m. CT at NRG Stadium and will be televised on NBC.
