Talk about an abundance of talent.
Nine 49ers have officially been named to the 2024 Pro Bowl, which is the most of any team in the NFL. 12 49ers have also been named as alternates. The 49ers basically have half of a starting lineup made up of Pro Bowlers.
The nine 49ers named are DE Nick Bosa, DL Javon Hargrave, FB Kyle Juszczyk, TE George Kittle, RB Christian McCaffrey, QB Brock Purdy, CB Charvarius Ward, LB Fred Warner and T Trent Williams. Nothing really surprising here as each of these nine players are deserving of the honor to be named to the Pro Bowl.
As for the alternates, they are WR Brandon Aiyuk, DL Arik Armstead, OL Aaron Banks, OL Jake Brendel, LB Oren Burks, LB Dre Greenlaw, CB Deommodore Lenoir, OL Colton McKivitz, LS Taybor Pepper, WR Deebo Samuel, P Mitch Wishnowsky and DL Chase Young. Everyone here seems fitting as well with Lenoir being the most eye opening. It goes to show how valiant of a player that he is becoming.
Usually there is always at least one player that gets snubbed as a Pro Bowl player, but the list feels spot on in regards to the 49ers. Really, the only one that is arguable as a snub is Aiyuk. He has been such a sweet player this season with his league leading yards per reception. All Aiyuk does is generate chunk plays.
However, the NFC has stacked wide receivers. The ones that were named were Cowboys' CeeDee Lamb, Eagles' A.J. Brown, Rams' Puka Nacua, and Buccaneers' Mike Evans. Not even Lions' Amon-Ra St. Brown was named, so it goes to show just how incredible of a year it was for NFC wide receivers. There is no shame in Aiyuk not being named as a starter given amazing quality.
Regardless, it is simply unreal how strong the talent is on the 49ers. No wonder they are head and shoulders above the next best team (whoever that is) in the NFC.
