North Carolina Makes Big Season Tickets Announcement

It's no secret that the University of North Carolina is primarily viewed as a basketball school. But Bill Belichick's arrival in Chapel Hill may be starting to change some things...

Since taking the job at UNC, headlines have run rampant surrounding the six-time Super Bowl champ and his 24-year-old girlfriend. However, it also seems to be paying off for the university where it counts — in ticket sales.

Per Axios Raleigh, the Tar Heels have already sold out their allotment of season tickets for Belichick's first CFB season (roughly 20,000) despite raising prices a reported 25%.

On top of that, North Carolina's increase in primetime games will likely increase the school's revenue share with the ACC, along with the value of its sponsorship deals.

The Belichick effect seems to be very real down in Tar Heel country. Even if the coach maintains that this transition to college is all about learning as he transitions to a new chapter of his career.

"Again, for me, it's all about learning," Belichick said during his recent appearance on "Good Morning America." "You know, I learn every day, and I've learned so much being back in the college environment with whether it be recruiting, the college game, the rules, the hash marks, some strategy, and just putting a team together. But I've learned a lot."

"And, you know, us having a shared vision, kind of like we had in the NFL: we have a coach-general manager model, and so that's been great as well to work with [Michael Lombardi] and to, you know, go through the process of re-acclimating to a little bit of a football, still football, but there's certainly some differences."

If Belichick was ever going to shift to the college game he picked the perfect time to do so. College football has never been closer to the NFL in this current era of NIL and the transfer portal — and it still allows him to have final say on the program's decisions.

Some have questioned whether or not he'll ever coach a game at UNC given the noise related to Jordon Hudson. But even if that were the case, the university appears to already have made its money.
