Notre Dame football has had major question marks with wide receiver recruiting in the 2025 class. Some of the doubt was silenced slightly recently when the staff received a commitment from Greenville (Ga.) High School athlete Antavious Richardson, who boasts a nice combination of length and explosiveness to work with. While he’s a talented player, Richardson is still very developmental.
The Irish staff must still find at least one more talented wide receiver, and maybe two to go along with Richardson, Jerome Bettis Jr., and Elijah Burress. Notre Dame will be hosting another very talented wide receiver in their game against Stanford this weekend in Cibolo (Texas) Steele star Jalen Cooper, who is currently committed to SMU.
Notre Dame appears to be in a good spot with Cooper, who is making his first visit to South Bend. He has been committed to the Mustangs since July 5th, but appears at least open to listening. The program has a chance to move the needle with a big official visit this weekend.
Cooper isn’t the only talented wide receiver they are still pursuing. They also hosted Orlando (Fla.) Boone standout Isaiah Mizell a couple of weeks ago, and he is still currently committed to Arizona. As of now, it appears that the Irish are trending in a great direction. They could be the school to beat both Cooper and Mizell in the end.
It is believed that Notre Dame is definitely going to take at least one more wide receiver, but they may also be open to taking two. If both Cooper and Mizell wanted to come to South Bend, I would have a very hard time telling them no. Wide receiver recruiting has been very flawed this cycle, but it could end up in pretty good shape.
