The first week of New York Jets training camp is in the books, leaving plenty to unpack.
Today, we are breaking down the biggest winners and losers on the offensive side of the ball from the opening stretch in Florham Park.
Running back Braelon Allen made a strong impression during the first week of New York Jets training camp, flashing the high ceiling that has many excited about his potential entering his second NFL season.
The 21-year-old back continues to display exceptional vision and decisiveness, consistently hitting the hole with authority and using his 235-pound frame to gain extra yardage through contact.

Allen appears to be an ideal complement to quarterback Justin Fields, especially in read-option and short-yardage situations. His bruising running style, paired with Fields’ speed and agility, presents a dangerous challenge for opposing defenses.

-Fields looked comfortable in the pocket and went 2/3 while hitting GW 30-plus yards downfield for a touchdown
-Braelon Allen is going to fit in beautifully with Justin Fields on read-options. His great vision and ability…
He has also gotten involved in the passing game, adding another layer to his skill set and increasing his potential value in offensive coordinator Tanner Engstrand’s system.

Slotting behind big-play threat Breece Hall, Allen’s bowling-ball style of play will add a physical edge and balance to the Jets’ rushing attack this season.
Malachi Corley’s spot on the Jets’ 53-man roster is far from a lock.
The rookie wideout is coming off a rough first year and didn’t help his case on the opening day of camp. Corley wasn’t returning punts, didn’t play on special teams, and saw just one offensive target, which he dropped.
However, the Western Kentucky product bounced back Saturday with a touchdown grab from quarterback Brady Cook, offering a glimmer of hope as he fights for a roster spot.
At this point, Corley feels like a true 50-50 shot to make the team. He’ll need to make plays and show growth on special teams to avoid the cut. There’s still time, but if he wants to stick in New York, he’ll need to turn it on fast.
Rookie wide receiver Arian Smith isn’t battling for a roster spot like Malachi Corley, but he’s working to carve out a defined role in the Jets’ offense, and he’s off to a strong start.
Smith flashed his trademark speed on the first day of training camp, nearly catching up to a 30-yard overthrow from quarterback Tyrod Taylor. The pass fell incomplete, but the play showcased why general manager Darren Mougey spent a fourth-round pick on the Georgia product.
Tyrod Taylor puts just a little too much on a 30-plus yard pass to Arian Smith. Smith has wheels, it is evident as to why the #Jets drafted him

Later that same practice, Smith and Taylor connected down the sideline for a 20-yard gain, offering another glimpse of the rookie’s big-play ability. Known for his deep speed, Smith has the tools to stretch defenses and open up the field whenever he’s on the field.

If deployed properly, Smith could become a valuable asset in New York’s offense this season.
