Odell Beckham Jr. to hold workout for NFL teams on Friday

Odell Beckham Jr. wants to prove that he still has "it". Over a year removed from the torn ACL (his second) he suffered in the first half of Super LVI, the free agent wide receiver is apparently still eying a return to the NFL.

According to ESPN, which cites league sources, Beckham will hold a workout for NFL teams this Friday at an undisclosed location in Arizona. Interestingly enough, one of the teams expected to be there are the New York Giants, who drafted OBJ with the No. 12 pick in the 2012 NFL Draft.

Beckham Jr. quickly became a star in New York, putting up 4,122 yards and 35 touchdowns in his first three NFL seasons, including 1,305 yards and 12 touchdowns as a rookie.

An injury cut Beckham's 2017 season short (just four games) but he bounced back in 2018 with 1,052 yards and six touchdowns. He wasn't the same player, but he was still a star and intriguing enough of a wide receiver that the Cleveland Browns traded for Beckham in March of 2019.

Beckham Jr.'s first season with Cleveland was a decent success and he seemed to gel with former No. 1 overall pick Baker Mayfield. He caught 74 passes for 1,035 yards and four touchdowns, but unfortunately, he never came close to putting up those type of numbers in Cleveland again.

He caught just 23 passes for 319 yards and three touchdowns in 2020, and just 17 passes for 232 yards and no touchdowns in 2021 before he was cut because he seemingly lost his connection with Mayfield. His father also called Mayfield out on social media, and the relationship between player and team became so bad that OBJ basically became persona non grata in Cleveland's locker room.

That's where OBJ's luck changed, though.

He was picked up on waivers midway through the season by the surging Los Angeles Rams and became a key part of LA's offense, connecting with Matthew Stafford for 305 yards and five touchdowns in just eight games. He added two more touchdowns in the playoffs, including one in the Super Bowl, before going down with the ACL injury.

Beckham proved with LA that he can be a more than serviceable No. 2 option for a good offense, but it has been 13 months since he last played. Can he still play that type of role in 2023 and beyond?

He'll try to prove that on Friday.
