Odell Beckham Jr. Trending Towards Giants Roster Spot

“Yes, he has done enough to make an NFL roster, for sure,” Harbaugh said. “He’s played well. He’s gotten better as camp’s gone along. He deserves credit for that. He’s done a really good job with it.”

OBJ brings more experience and accolades than the rest of the Giants’ receivers corps, but it was still uncertain if he’d earn a roster spot. After all, he’s sat out two of the past four seasons, and when he was last on an NFL roster, he was limited to only nine receptions in nine games with the Dolphins.

Still, the 33-year-old showed he had something left in the tank throughout the 2026 preseason. This included a performance last night that saw him finish with three catches for 53 yards. He was also slightly overthrown on a would-be 73-yard touchdown, a play in which he hit 20.54 miles per hour, per ESPN’s Jordan Raanan.

The Giants do have some tough decisions to make when it comes to their wide receiver depth. Malik Nabers, Darius Slayton, and Darnell Mooney are currently penciled in atop the depth chart, and third-round rookie Malachi Fields will surely take up a roster spot. That means OBJ is competing with the likes of Braxton Berrios, Isaiah Hodgins, Xavier Gipson, and others for two roster gigs.

After last night’s game, Beckham expressed how much it would mean to him to earn a spot with the organization that originally drafted him back in 2014.

“It would mean everything,” Beckham said (via Michael David Smith of ProFootballTalk.com). “It would be my dream. This is where I started. There’s no place I want to give my whole heart to, more than any place in the world, than this place right here.”

Elsewhere in New York, it sounds like Harbaugh and his staff have settled on a starting kicker. The coach told reporters that Dominic Zvada has won the competition, per Art Stapleton of NorthJersey.com. The former Michigan standout joined the Giants as an undrafted free agent back in April. He beat out Ben Sauls, who converted all eight of his field goal attempts in three games with the organization in 2025.
