Oh no, not Poe! Ravens place mascot on IR

Injuries have been a constant problem for the Baltimore Ravens the past few years, and not even the mascot is immune to that bad luck.

Poe, the Ravens' longtime mascot, was injured during on Saturday during a mascot and youth football scrimmage that took place during the team's preseason game against the Washington Commanders and had to be carted off the field.

It was quite a scene.

Poe took some damage to his drumstick and ruffled some feathers last night during his Mascot Classic.

On Thursday, the Ravens provided a comical update from head coach John Harbaugh that Poe is now done for the season due to a severe injury to his "drumstick" and that he will not be able to perform for the remainder of the season.

"He will not be able to perform for the rest of the season," Harbaugh said. "We will find a replacement. We're going to go to work on that right away. We're going to turn over every stone, scour everywhere and find his replacement. We're going to get right into evaluating our options, see where we go next, and see if we can find somebody to replace Poe."

Kudos to Harbaugh for being able to get through all of that without laughing too hard or being annoyed that he had to do it.

When the Ravens first introduced their mascot several years ago, Poe, who was named after the poet Edgar Allan Poe, was accompanied by two brothers, Edgar and Allan, who were retired after the 2008 season.

This seems like a great time to bring those two back.
