Ohio State’s Caleb Downs Makes Career Announcement on Tuesday

Caleb Downs and the No. 1 Ohio State Buckeyes remained perfect on the 2025 college football season, jumping to 6-0 after a 34-16 Week 7 win over the former No. 17 Illinois Fighting Illini. Downs, following up his unanimous All-American season, has remained one of the best defensive players in the nation, recording 28 tackles and one interception.

Downs is projected to be one of the top prospects in the 2026 NFL Draft, but that hasn’t stopped him from building his brand. The junior safety from Hoschton, Georgia, holds several NIL deals with major companies, including Beats by Dre, Celsius, Panini America and Freddy’s. And following Week 7, Downs announced he’s expanding his portfolio even further.

On Tuesday, Downs announced on social media a new partnership with the grocery chain Giant Eagle. The Ohio State safety is launching his own candy snack mix, Snackin’ with the Safety, with the first edition titled Munchy Medley. The snack will be available at all 94 Giant Eagle stores across Ohio. Downs’ Instagram post also featured three photos of the mix, which includes regular and white chocolate pretzels along with assorted chocolates.

Downs also announced that his coffee line, Brew for the Bucks, will be available at the same stores, featuring two varieties: Light Roast and Dual Threat.

"Hey Buckeye Nation!" Downs wrote. "Here’s a great way for you to celebrate last year’s historic season, and look forward to another one this year. Go to your local Giant Eagle to check out my new ‘Snackin’ with the Safety’ Candy Snack Mix! They’re exclusively available at Giant Eagle stores all over Ohio. Look for my coffees there too!"

Downs and Ohio State will look to continue their undefeated season in Week 8, hitting the road to face the Wisconsin Badgers at Camp Randall Stadium (Madison, Wisconsin).
