Ohio State's National Championship team has a few huge things in common with the Oklahoma Sooners
STEVE SISNEY / USA TODAY NETWORK

The Oklahoma Sooners have had some historic teams in years past. And, no, I'm not talking about historically bad teams like this last year -- teams that have made history. They have had some of the best teams ever to never win a National Championship, and I think we all know what team I'm specifically referring to.

On Monday, the 2024-25 College Football season officially wrapped up, as Ohio State absolutely dominated Notre Dame in a game that saw the Fighting Irish give themselves a chance at the end, but it was just too late. It's safe to say that after a very impressive four-game run by the Buckeyes, this is one of the best teams in college football history, especially when you look at both sides of the ball.

But it's nearly impossible to talk about Ohio State and not mention their offense. This offense has so much in common with one of the best in Oklahoma Sooners' history. And, if you ask me, that's pretty cool to think about.

2018 Oklahoma Sooners will be remembered

According to Cole Cubelic of ESPN, Ohio State is the second team ever to have a 4,000-yard passer, two 1,000-yard rushers, and two 1,000-yard receivers. That, of course, puts them behind that 2018 Oklahoma team that had special players like Kyler Murray and CeeDee Lamb.

Here is how the Sooners' stats ended:

Kyler Murray - 4,361 rush yards

Kennedy Brooks - 1,056 rush yards

Kyler Murray - 1,001 rush yards

Hollywood Brown - 1,318 reception yards

CeeDee Lamb - 1,158 reception yards

And Trey Sermon, who played at Oklahoma before transferring to Ohio State, had 947 rush yards for Oklahoma that year as well, which is just insane to think about.

Lincoln Riley may have never been able to have a good defense, but man did he have some of the best offenses we have ever seen. Had that team had a good defense, they would have won the National Championship.
