Is it time to start talking about Oklahoma State as a serious contender? I know it’s early, but some experts are already banging the drum for the Cowboys as a legit threat to win the Big 12 in Year One of the Eric Morris era.
Namely, David Pollack, who spent a segment on his show raving about the new leadership in Stillwater and the roster Morris has assembled already.
Y'all need to keep a look out for @CowboyFB.

That portal class… new coach… hmm… pic.twitter.com/yJRyI2pYhx
“This has got a chance to really click,” Pollack said. “It could be one of the best turnarounds we’ve seen. From 1-11, not beating an FBS team, you can flip that over, like they’re going to get eight plus wins. In the Big 1, they’ve got a chance to do something special.”
The headline here is the offense. Drew Mestemaker is a five-star player in the transfer portal, and for good reason. He already knows the system, and there isn’t a program in America that wouldn’t trade their starter for him in a millisecond, if given the chance. Pair him with stars like Caleb Hawkins and Wyatt Young, two guys that found the end zone 40 times combined, this thing could really take off, and fast!
They’ve got the portal numbers, the offense, and the staff to do it. Now it’s just about living up to expectations and delivering. Is it too much to say they’re a dark horse to reach Arlington this fall? Maybe so, but the fact that it’s not a ridiculous thing to say in Year One should tell you everything you need to know about the new man on the sidelines and his approach for the future of Cowboy football.
