In the National Football League, a win is a win.
The Miami Dolphins’ victory over the lowly New Orleans Saints featured both well-executed and gruesome moments.
Anthony Weaver’s defense held its own once again, as it has done in the previous several games, creating turnovers and minimizing third-down conversions by the Saints.
The offense did enough to outscore the Saints, making it obvious, once again, who is by far the best offensive player: De’Von Achane.
Tua Tagovailoa once again must go.
His poor decision-making and errant throws at the worst possible times give me yet another example of the Dolphins’ Achilles’ heel.
The fact that Coach Mike McDaniel doesn’t trust Tua to throw at the end of the first half, with time running out, and instead opts for a field goal is a case in point.
So, even Tua’s staunch supporter in McDaniel chose not to put the game in Tua’s hands, and wisely so.
The first half ended 16-0, yet it should have been 28-0 had it not been for the fact that we had a below-average quarterback.
Whether the Dolphins draft a quarterback in the 2026 draft or wait until the 2027 draft, it is apparent that Tua needs a replacement.
Unfortunately, whoever the new General Manager is, he needs to find a way to trade Tua while avoiding a massive salary-cap hit.
Good luck to the new General Manager.
Thank you, Chris Grier, for putting the team in an impossible spot with your horrible contract decisions.
If not for Weaver’s defense, this game would have been the Dolphins’ eighth loss of the season.
And despite the ugly win, McDaniel continues to make the same mistakes: wasting time-outs, failing challenges, failing to make proper adjustments on offense, and questionable play calling.
The Dolphins did, in fact, beat the New Orleans Saints, but it is best to forget the performance of the Dolphins’ offense, except for De’Von Achane, and move on to the next game.
