It's time to hit the road again for the Washington Commanders, who are looking to bounce back from a rough loss last week, but so are the Los Angeles Chargers.
Help is on the way with quarterback Jayden Daniels set to return and start on Sunday, but the team faces numerous other injuries that will make this a challenging task. Corner Mike Sainristil is one of those players who are banged up, which doesn't bode well for an already shaky secondary.
After getting torched by Drake London last week, the Commanders' secondary gets another true test by one of the biggest shocks of the season.
The Commanders let London put up 110 yards and a touchdown last week, and this matchup is actually much worse for the Commanders. Everyone was expecting Chargers' wide receiver Ladd McConkey to have another major breakout year, but it's actually been Quinton Johnston who has surprised everyone as the top receiver in Los Angeles.
Through the first four weeks, Johnston is third in the league in receiving yards with 337 and tied for third in touchdowns with four. Johnston is a big play threat with an average of 15.3 yards per catch, seven explosive plays of 20+ yards, and 121 yards after the catch.
I’m so incredibly happy to be watching Quentin Johnston’s breakout this year.

Watching Chargers fans pile on him at every opportunity was a disappointing experience.
QJ’s current rank among WRs this year:
Rec: 22 (T-8)
Yards: 337 (3)
TDs: 4 (T-3)
20+ Yard Rec: 7 (T-3) pic.twitter.com/GoAtWe9VlU
The Commanders' defense has allowed the sixth-most receiving yards in the league so far, and they are one of the worst big-play defenses in the league. The defense has also allowed an embarrassing 20 pass plays that have gone for 15+ yards, which is the second most through four games, and five plays of 40+ yards. Both of those numbers are worse than last year's through the first four games.
Drake London was moved around the field in Week 4, and WRs as big as him aren't supposed to cut like him.

Johnston is poised for a massive day if the Commanders' trends on defense continue, and McConkey and Keenan Allen can all get their production as well if you focus on Johnston too much. They have weapons all over the place, and that's not even including running back Omarion Hampton, who has become a force over the last two weeks on the ground and through the air.
Herbert is also the best quarterback they've faced so far, and he's fourth in the league with 1,063 passing yards and seven passing touchdowns. He's making some ridiculous throws downfield despite being pressured on almost half of his throws.
Herbert will have an absolute field day on the Commanders' secondary if they don't change their lack of communication and poor coverage in both zone and man. They will need some help, though, and the defensive line can get pressure on Herbert after disappearing last week against the Falcons.
