ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Tuesday the New York Giants have released its depth chart and first-round pick Jaxson Dart is listed as QB2 behind starter Russell Wilson.
Veteran Jameis Winston is now QB3 after being listed as the No. 2 on the unofficial depth chart throughout the preseason. Head coach Brian Daboll sort of answered questions about the depth chart on Monday during a Zoom call.
"Any roster decisions based on who's going to be in the backup or who this player is going to be, we'll have that out there on Sunday."

But, Daboll and the Giants front office believe he is the future. The franchise traded back to take him and think he can benefit greatly learning under both Wilson and Winston. This preseason, Dart backed up the confidence by throwing for nearly 400 yards and three touchdowns.
During his time at Ole Miss, Dart started 38 games – leading the Rebels to back-to-back 10-win seasons and finished as the program's all-time leader in passing yards, surpassing former Giants quarterback and two-time Super Bowl champion Eli Manning.
In three years at Ole Miss, Dart threw for 10,617 yards and 72 touchdowns. He broke the program record for passing yards in a season (4,279) and in a single game (515). The Giants' signal caller also surpassed Bo Wallace in total offense (12,117 yards), Chad Kelly in single season total offense (4,774), and SEC legend and College Football Hall of Famer Archie Manning in a single game (562).
"Coming off a strong season at Ole Miss, the young quarterback was selected by the Giants with the 25th pick in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft. Dart brings a physically gifted arm to the field as well as a dual-threat ability," Deming said. "While he might have the most raw talent in the QB room, he lacks the decision-making and NFL experience to be the Week 1 starter. However, the Giants liked his preseason performance enough to reward him with the backup title behind Wilson.
"Expect Dart to take over under center for the Giants at some point in the 2025 season, and it could come sooner rather than later as he is just one injury or one bad performance away from earning his first NFL start," Deming said. "His arm talent, rushing ability, and connection with young star Malik Nabers will provide Dart with fantasy upside if he can claim the starting role."
