CBS Sports' Pete Prisco recently revealed his ranking of the top 100 players in the NFL, and only one former Tennessee Vols player made his list.
Former Vols offensive lineman Trey Smith, who is entering his fifth season with the Kansas City Chiefs, came in at No. 75 in Prisco's rankings.
Smith was ranked No. 90 in Prisco's rankings in 2024.
No other former Vol appears in Prisco's top 100 rankings.
From CBS Sports: Smith is a brutish mauler in the run game. He blows people off the line of scrimmage. He's also improved in pass protection. The Chiefs know his value, which is why he got a new contract extension.
Prisco referenced a contract extension for Smith, but that actually hasn't happened yet. Smith was franchised tagged by the Chiefs earlier this offseason, and he signed the tag, but he's still hoping to receive an extension from Kansas City by the mid July deadline.
The feeling is that the Chiefs will likely work out an extension with Smith before the July deadline passes. It would be a big surprise if Smith, who has been one of the mainstays along the Chiefs' offensive line over the last four seasons, isn't back in Kansas City after the 2025 season.
