The reigning Super Bowl champions may lose a key contributor.
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, speedy wide receiver Rashid Shaheed is unlikely to sign a new deal with the Seattle Seahawks.
"Rashid Shaheed is said to not be close to an extension with the Seahawks and the expectation is that he now will test the free agent market Monday, per sources," Schefter wrote on X.
Shaheed is one of the fastest pass-catchers in the game, not to mention a solid special teams contributor, so there should be plenty of potential suitors. However, one should stand tall over the rest: the Las Vegas Raiders.
Shaheed followed former New Orleans Saints offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak to Seattle with a midseason trade. Now, with Kubiak taking the reins of the Raiders as their new head coach, it only makes sense that he also follows him to Sin City, where he can have a featured role.
The Raiders will most likely take QB Fernando Mendoza with the No. 1 pick, so they must give their rookie quarterback some weapons. There, he can be their secondary pass-catcher behind Brock Bowers, opening things up with his otherworldly speed. He's already familiar with Kubiak's system, so he'd be a seamless fit in Las Vegas.
Tyler Lockett will be a free agent, so the Raiders can certainly use a big-play specialist. According to Spotrac, Shaheed is projected to sign a three-year, $42.3 million contract with an annual average value of $14.1 million. Money shouldn't be an issue, as the Raiders have a whopping $88 million in available cap space, according to Over the Cap.
