The Kansas City Chiefs need a win. They need their first win. These are uncomfortable statements to make for this team heading into Week 3, but they're true all the same. The Chiefs are 0-2 and they need a victory against the New York Giants on Sunday.
Consider this: if the Chiefs lose to Brian Daboll's roster in Week 3, the Chiefs will then face the Baltimore Ravens the following week with a very real possibility of going winless for the first month of the season. A two-game deficit feels frustrating, but digging a deeper hole feels like a real issue.
This is why most of our writers have a hard time picking against the Chiefs when facing Russell Wilson and the Giants. It just feels like it cannot happen. Right? We hope so.
Here are our predictions for the Chiefs-Giants game at MetLife Stadium for Week 3.
Christian Ainsworth
Last week's miracle performance against the Cowboys is sadly the last one Wilson will ever have. The vaunted Chiefs defense gets mad and unleashes on a substandard Giants OL, Mahomes does Mahomes things, and Worthy proves to be a reliable weapon, even with the injury. Chiefs 27, Giants 20
Maxwell Cashio
Enough talk. It’s time for the Chiefs to come out of their offensive hibernation and remind the league why they’ve gone to the last 3 Super Bowls. Chiefs 38, Giants 10
Matt Conner
It's not even my scope of understanding that Andy Reid would drop a third consecutive game like this against Brian Daboll's New York Giants. Not even sure what else needs to be said. Chiefs 24, Giants 10
Bransen Gibson
It's time for the Chiefs to steady the ship, right? Surely they don't go 0-3, right? Surely not. The Chiefs win and get a rushing TD from a running back. Chiefs 24, Giants 17
Drae Harris
Kansas City's offensive line gets another formidable defensive front. However, they ultimately get in the win column this week. Chiefs 31, Giants 14
Braden Holocek
The Chiefs are going to come out blazing after the 0-2 start. It may not all be perfect with so much to fix, but Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes are going to help the offense get out to a better start. Chiefs 30, Giants 16
Scott Loring
Both teams are cornered at 0-2.The only chance the Giants have is if their vaunted defensive line literally wins this game for them. Chiefs 20, Giants 17
Charles Robinson
I'm 0 for 2 so far, just like the Chiefs. This is a "get right" game for both my predictions and for the Chiefs. Daboll and Russ don't stand a chance in primetime. Chiefs 27, Giants 17
Lucas Strozinsky
Understandably, many Chiefs fans are down on the team. While the concerns are valid, I still think they'll win this game fairly comfortably. Whether that translates into success in Week 4 and beyond is unknown. Chiefs 27, Giants 18
