Head coach Sean McVay hoped this week that Los Angeles Rams fans would pack SoFi Stadium for the Week 6 NFC West matchup against the San Francisco 49ers. But in recent years, 49ers fans have dominated the stadium when the division rivals meet, and Thursday night was no exception.
"I think they've obviously got a great fan base," McVay said this week. "I blame my grandpa [former 49ers GM John McVay] for that, a lot of the success they had in their early years... I'm looking forward to seeing as many Rams fans come out and support us on Thursday night. The 49ers always travel well, but I'm hopeful and optimistic."
It's not just about traveling fans—the 49ers are a favorite in Southern California, making it easy for the home-field advantage to shift in their favor. Fans have even jokingly dubbed SoFi Stadium "Levi's South."

Wide receiver Demarcus Robinson, a former Rams player now with San Francisco, got his first taste of the red-and-gold takeover as a member of the visiting team.
"Oh my God, this is like our second home," Robinson said. "So, I'm glad they all came out and showed us some support. We need that everywhere we go, though. We need our fans' support everywhere we go.
"To see that from the fans, all the red and stuff, that gives us a little bit more momentum. So, we definitely need that."

The pro-49ers crowd witnessed a thrilling contest in the 153rd all-time meeting between the Niners and Rams, with San Francisco edging Los Angeles 26-23 in overtime.
Having spent the past two seasons with the Rams, Robinson knows firsthand the impact 49ers fans have whenever the team travels to SoFi Stadium. The wide receiver was asked if he noticed the discrepancy between the fan bases when he was with the Rams.
"Honestly, yeah, I did. I did," Robinson said. "They definitely came out. They showed up. They were loud, too. Every time they made a play, it seemed like they were at home. So, yeah, we got some pretty good fans over there."
The 49ers now get a brief break, with their next game scheduled for October 12 against the 3-1 Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Raymond James Stadium. San Francisco will return to Levi's Stadium for a true home game on October 19 against the Atlanta Falcons.
