The Green Bay Packers were seeking to bounce back after a 34-26 loss to the Denver Broncos in Week 15 when they faced the Chicago Bears (10-4) for the second time this season on Saturday in Week 16. Green Bay was again relying on Jordan Love to lead the offense in a pivotal NFC North showdown.
Through 15 games in 2025, Love had completed 283 of 426 passes for 3,304 yards, 23 touchdowns and six interceptions, with a 66.4% completion rate, as the Packers sat at 9-4-1 chasing the division lead and a key playoff position.
Love’s consistent play was central to Green Bay’s offensive identity, and the Packers had hoped he would spark a win that could shift the NFC pecking order, especially as the Bears held a slim advantage in the standings entering the matchup.
However, the Packers were dealt an unfortunate blow in the first quarter when Love was pressured and brought down on a pass attempt.
The play was ruled a 15-yard roughing the passer penalty after what appeared to be helmet-to-helmet contact with Bears defensive lineman Austin Booker, and Love soon exited the game to be evaluated.
Packers officials confirmed he was being assessed for a concussion after initially working in the sideline medical tent before heading to the locker room. Backup quarterback Malik Willis entered relief for the Green Bay offense.
The Packers later provided a definitive update, announcing that Jordan Love has been ruled out for the remainder of the game with a concussion.

The news is a significant setback for the Packers, who now must rely on Willis, who has seen very limited action this season, with just two outings and 13 passing yards with one touchdown prior to this game.
Green Bay’s struggles this late in the season have been compounded by injuries on both sides of the ball. On offense, running back Josh Jacobs (knee/ankle) and wide receiver Christian Watson (chest/shoulder) had been listed as questionable entering Week 16, joining a lengthy injury report that has challenged the Packers’ depth.
Defensively, the team lost star pass-rusher Micah Parsons to a season-ending torn ACL in Week 15, a blow that will also significantly impact Green Bay’s ability to pressure opposing quarterbacks and defend key downs.
With playoff implications on the line in this NFC North showdown, the outcome of this game could have ripple effects on postseason seeding and momentum for both teams, making Love’s unavailability and the performance of the Willis-led offense crucial to the Packers’ 2025 campaign.
