The Green Bay Packers continue to wait for Micah Parsons as the star pass rusher works his way back from the knee injury that ended his 2025 season.
Parsons has been sidelined since suffering a torn ACL and meniscus damage in Week 15 against the Denver Broncos last December. He underwent surgery on Dec. 29 and entered the 2026 season on the reserve/physically unable to perform list.
The Packers had hoped to begin the next stage of his recovery once he became eligible to practice, but the team has remained cautious with its biggest defensive star. Green Bay is also struggling without Parsons, entering Week 5 at 2-2.
Parsons has not suffered a setback, but his return to practice has taken longer than some expected
On Monday, Packers head coach Matt LaFleur announced even more disappointing news: Parsons will not return to practice this week.
The decision means Green Bay will not open his 21-day practice window yet, despite Parsons being eligible to begin practicing under the NFL’s updated PUP rules.
“He’s the guy working his butt off to be out there,” LaFleur told reporters. “He’s made some good progress in the last week, but time will tell” (via ESPN’s Rob Demovsky).

Said Parsons has “made some good progress in the last week but time will tell.”
LaFleur previously confirmed that there has been no setback in Parsons’ recovery.
“No setbacks. It’s just part of the process,” he said, adding that Parsons still needs to be cleared by the medical staff before returning to practice.
The delay also puts earlier return expectations under greater pressure. Parsons had previously identified Green Bay’s Week 6 game against his former team, the Dallas Cowboys, as a realistic target, but that timeline is now in serious doubt.
The Ringer’s Tom Pelissero reported Saturday that Parsons was not expected to return to practice the following week because he “just isn’t ready,” with a November game debut now possible.
Parsons recorded 12.5 sacks in his first season with Green Bay despite missing the final three-plus games. The Packers are hoping his eventual return can provide a major boost to a defense that has struggled without him.
