Packers are bracing for imminent Josh Jacobs crisis

The Green Bay Packers have big concerns with their offensive line.

To add insult to injury, whoever starts at guard might not have Josh Jacobs in the backfield, making them look good.

The star running back could still be suspended for the start of the season, following his May arrest on suspicion of domestic abuse. 

While he was released hours after his arrest and there's no new information on the situation, the growing speculation about potential league discipline has Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst preparing for the possibility that he won't be available.

“I’m pretty confident we can sustain it,” Gutekunst said. “That doesn’t mean we wouldn’t do that, but yeah, we’ll deal with that when that comes. But we’ve obviously been prepared for that in case that happens. At the same time, I feel really good about the guys we got in that room, and I think we can survive that and kill it.”

For now, the team has stood by him since the scandal made the news.

The Packers' running game will obviously take a huge hit if the former Las Vegas Raiders star is forced to miss time, especially behind a shaky offensive line that struggled to create running lanes last season.

There aren't many options available to upgrade the roster if Jacobs misses time, but with roster-cut day zooming in, the Packers might not be done making moves before the Sept. 13 season opener.
