Packers assistant Luke Getsy expected to leave for Bears OC job?

The Packers lost offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett earlier this week as he took the job as the next head coach of the Broncos. Now it looks like they're about to be down another offensive mind.

The Bears are expected to hire Packers quarterbacks coach Luke Getsy as their next offensive coordinator, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. Getsy joins new Chicago head coach Matt Eberflus' staff after the former Colts defensive coordinator was hired away earlier this week.

Getsy has been with Green Bay for seven of the last eight seasons. He started as an offensive quality control coach in 2014 after rising up the collegiate ranks, and was promoted to wide receivers coach for the 2016 and 2017 seasons.

In 2018, Getsy returned to the college realm to be the offensive coordinator and wide receivers coach at Mississippi State. He stayed in Starkville for just one year, however, returning to the Packers in 2019 as quarterbacks coach. In 2020, he was also given passing-game coordinator duties, which he held for two years.

Eberflus has assembled a large portion of his staff already, including bringing former Colts colleagues Dave Borgonzi and James Rowe with him, per reports

The Bears don't just have a new coaching staff, as they've also overhauled their front office. They hired 36-year-old former Chiefs executive Ryan Poles as their general manager earlier in the week and hired Ian Cunningham as assistant GM on Saturday, making him the first to hold the position in franchise history.
