Packers backfield could be short on depth vs. Cowboys
Green Bay Packers RB AJ Dillon Lon Horwedel-USA TODAY Sports

The Green Bay Packers held their second practice of the week on Thursday, but AJ Dillon was not able to suit up due to the neck injury that held him out of last week’s game against the Chicago Bears. He is now in danger of missing Sunday’s wild-card round showdown with the Dallas Cowboys.

Dillon was seen in pads stretching out with the team at the start of Thursday's practice, but returned to rehab during the individual drills.  Not logging reps for the second straight day raises questions on his availability come Sunday against the Cowboys.  Dillon will have one more chance to log a practice before the Packers make a ruling on his status.  If he cannot suit up for Sunday, expect Patrick Taylor to log extra snaps as the backup to Aaron Jones.

Aaron Jones practiced with limited participation Thursday for Green Bay Packers

Jones, who has rushed for at least 110 yards in his last three games, logged a limited practice on Thursday after being listed on the injury report with knee and finger issues.  Should Jones be without fellow backfield mate AJ Dillon for the wild-card matchup against Dallas, it would put him in line to be the workhorse once again.

Jones had a total of 27 touches in this past Sunday's win over the Bears and was a big part of their offensive success, running for multiple key first downs throughout the game, which helped seal their playoff spot.

In his three career games against the Cowboys, Jones has carried the ball 62 times for 370 yards and six touchdowns.  While Dillon may be in danger of missing the contest, there is some comfort knowing that Jones has had success against Dallas throughout his career and could be in line for another big game on Sunday assuming his knee and finger are good to go.
