Throughout league history, the Green Bay Packers and Chicago Bears have faced off against each other 210 times -- the most matchups ever between two teams and arguably the biggest rivalry in all of sports.
On Monday, FOX Sports announced one of the two matchup dates between the NFC North teams for this upcoming season.
As a part of a 2025 Week 16 Saturday doubleheader, Green Bay will face Chicago, while the reigning Super Bowl Champions Philadelphia Eagles, are facing off against a familiar NFC East opponent, the Washington Commanders.
The Packers will travel to Soldier Field for their matchup. The game will be played on December. 20 and could have major divisional standing implications for the NFC North as a whole.
Last season, both of the matchups between these two teams were incredibly close and ultimately decided by one final play.
During the first showdown in Week 11, Green Bay blocked a would-be Bears game-winning field goal as time expired and came out on top 20-19. In the final regular-season game of the year, Chicago had another field goal attempt as time expired and converted, defeating the Packers 24-22, and for the first time since 2018.
Head coach Matt LaFleur is 11-1 against the Bears since arriving in Green Bay and will look to continue that dominance in 2025.
Both Chicago and Green Bay have made major moves this offseason, highlighted by first-year Bears head coach Ben Johnson, who is a very familiar face to these teams from his time in Detroit.
This marked the first Packers game date release, as the official 2024-25 NFL schedule release will be on Wednesday, May 14 at 8 p.m. ET on NFL Network.
