Packers’ CB Eric Stokes Injury Designation Revealed Prior to Critical Week 17 Matchup
Junfu Han / USA TODAY NETWORK / USA TODAY NETWORK

The Green Bay Packers have been a surprising playoff contender this season as first time quarterback Jordan Love has played well this season.  With two games remaining in the season, Green Bay is only one game behind in the wild card race and is currently ranked tenth in the NFC.  Given the importance of the last two games of the season for Green Bay, the team needs to avoid injury issues that could derail the teams potential playoff berth.

Packers CB Eric Stokes Injured in Week 17 Against Vikings

It was officially released by the Green Bay X Account (formerly known as Twitter) that starting cornerback Eric Stokes will not play in the Sunday night matchup with Minnesota.  Stokes needs to be a critical part to the excellent Green Bay secondary that has held this team in tight games this season.

Stokes has been unable to get on the field this season after spending the entire season on injured reserve with a hamstring injury.  Stokes was drafted with the twenty-ninth overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.  At the time, the pick was highly criticized as unnecessary as the team was desperate for receivers at the time to keep former star quarterback Aaron Rodgers happy.

There was also a major concern at the time of the draft pick that Stokes was picked far too early and wouldn’t be able to make the adjustment to the professional game.  Granted he hasn’t been able to be on the field much given his injury history, it certainly looks like Green Bay should’ve gone with a more established collegiate corner or any other impact position.
