The 2022 NFL Draft has been an exciting time for the Packer writers at Wisconsin Sports Heroics! It has been a nice getaway from reflecting on things such as the Davante Adams trade. The team has been putting a lot of time preparing mock drafts, draft predictions, and film breakdown. To give viewers a different approach, we decided to get some insight from a few of our writers on their draft predictions and what they are most looking forward to:

Dylan Buboltz- WSH President

“I’ll be interested to see how the Packers move around in the first round. I can’t see them staying at both 22 and 28. They have enough capital to move up or move back and re-load. I expect Gute to be really active.”

Chris Buboltz- WSH Vice President

“I am most looking forward to see how Green Bay addresses the wide receiver situation. Green Bay has not drafted a wide receiver in the first round since 2002. It is not the Packers’ forte to draft a wide receiver in the first round, but given their current depth chart, I am expecting Green Bay to use two of their four top 60 picks to bolster a depleted wide receiver group.”

“LeFleur and Gute have been really coy about the WR situation, which leads me to believe that they have identified their targets at the position in the draft and will be aggressively pursuing them. I think they leave the draft with at least 3 WRs, 2 of which will probably be in the first 3 rounds. Wouldn’t be surprised if they move up to get their guy in the 1st round, and I think a move up to the 17 spot would make sense depending on how it plays out. If their guy in the 1st round is still available at 17, he probably won’t be available after the Eagles and Saints pick again, so a trade with the Chargers might make sense there. I think Tackle and Edge will probably be addressed early as well, and if the right prospect falls to them, maybe Safety. Tackle will likely be doubled down on in later rounds.”

“WR is obviously a clear need, but I think the Packers are going to be flexible in how they address it. My gut says that 2 WRs are picked in the first two rounds; I could easily see Green Bay getting one in the first and the second (something like Chris Olave/Christian Watson), or getting both in the second (Watson and Jameson Williams, for example). I also think that one of the Packers’ 1sts will be spent on an edge rusher like Arnold Ebikitie or George Karlaftis. We’ve seen how much Gute values players who can generate pressure, and I think that they’ll prioritize quality depth at the position. I see some similarities between this draft and 2019, where Gute picked a young edge rusher (Rashan Gary) to back up two veteran studs.”

“I think they go best player available. I’d be shocked if that’s a WR. More likely going defensive front 7 and OL.”
