The Green Bay Packers will host the defending Super Bowl champions, the Philadelphia Eagles, on Monday night. This marks the third time in the past four seasons that Green Bay will play the reigning Super Bowl champs. History has been on Green Bay’s side, with wins over the Rams in 2022 and the Chiefs in 2023.
The Packers enter this matchup looking to rebound from a disappointing Week 8 loss to the Carolina Panthers. Despite limiting quarterback Bryce Young to just 102 passing yards, Green Bay’s defense struggled to contain the run. They allowed 163 yards on the ground in a 16–13 defeat decided by a walk-off field goal.
Offensively, Jordan Love and the Packers showed flashes of efficiency. They were successful on nine of fifteen third- or fourth-down attempts and reached the red zone on five of their seven drives.
Red zone execution, however, remained a major issue. Green Bay managed just six points on its first four trips inside the 20 and ultimately failed to capitalize on multiple scoring opportunities. Notably, the Packers did not punt once during the game.
Meanwhile, the Eagles come into Lambeau Field well-rested after a bye week. They are coming off a dominant win over the New York Giants. In that game, Saquon Barkley ran all over the Giants’ defense and recorded 150 rushing yards and two total touchdowns, one on the ground and one through the air.

Rookie receiver Matthew Golden is listed as day-to-day with a shoulder injury. Cornerback Nate Hobbs has a Grade 1 MCL sprain and is expected to miss at least the next two games.
There is some good news, however. Both Dontayvion Wicks and Lukas Van Ness could return this week. Wicks has been sidelined for the last two games due to a calf strain, and Van Ness missed the past three games with a foot injury.
Love continues to be a bright spot. He currently ranks inside the top ten at nine in overall PFF grade (79.6), eighth in passing yards, and 14th in passing touchdowns. Despite facing adversity, Love has consistently proven himself in quarterback play and efficiency. Analysts frequently rank him at the top for efficiency among quarterbacks.
Eagles:
Philadelphia enters the matchup with A.J. Brown, Cam Jurgens, and Adoree’ Jackson listed as questionable. Running back Saquon Barkley, who suffered a groin injury in Week 8, is expected to play Monday night. He left that game early after the Eagles secured a comfortable lead. Many of these players are likely to be ready for Monday night’s game.
Philadelphia and Green Bay last met in the Wild Card round of the NFL Playoffs last season. The game ended in a 22–10 Eagles win. Philadelphia’s defense largely controlled the matchup, keeping Love and the Packers’ offense in check throughout the night.
Right from the opening kickoff, momentum swung in the Eagles’ favor. They recovered a Green Bay fumble and, three plays later, found the end zone for an early lead. Despite several chances to close the gap, the Packers couldn’t break through Philadelphia’s defense. The Eagles held firm, securing the win and ending Green Bay’s season before going on to win Super Bowl LIX.
Monday night, the Packers are hoping for a different outcome against the reigning champs.
With both teams sitting atop their divisions — the Eagles at (6–2) and the Packers at (5–2–1) — Monday night’s matchup at Lambeau Field has all the makings of a statement game. The Packers aim to get back on track and flip the script after last season’s playoff loss. The Eagles look to continue their dominance behind a deep, talented roster. Under the bright lights of Monday Night Football, both NFC contenders will be playing with a lot to prove.
