Packers get another reason for concern just a week before facing Aaron Rodgers and the Steelers

The Green Bay Packers will have a massive and emotional game against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 8, and the roster may face an additional reason for concern. According to ESPN's Brooke Pryor, players from both the Steelers and Cleveland Browns complained about the playing surface conditions at Acrisure Stadium. Players "expressed outrage and concerns to the NFL Players Association," via ESPN.

"The NFLPA has conveyed its concern to the NFL and will work to ensure that players are not put in that position going forward," a source told ESPN.

Acrisure Stadium's grass was already scheduled to be resodded after the game. The Steelers play at the Cincinnati Bengals this week, giving their own field more time to be in better conditions before the Packers game on "Sunday Night Football" in Week 8.

"I thought it was poor [Sunday]," Steelers coach Mike Tomlin said on Monday. "I'm not concerned going forward. It's my understanding that that turf is going to be swapped out, but I certainly acknowledge it was a concern."

Emotional game

This is the first time ever that quarterback Aaron Rodgers will face the Green Bay Packers. The veteran spent two years with the New York Jets, but the teams didn't face off during that period.

Rodgers signed with the Steelers back in June, agreeing to a one-year, $13.65 million contract. The move can go to $19.5 million via incentives.

Meanwhile, the Packers are going through a difficult sequence in terms of logistics. Between Sept. 12 and Nov. 1, the team will only play one game at Lambeau Field. That happens because the Packers had a two-road game sequence versus the Cleveland Browns and Dallas Cowboys, then a bye week. After hosting the Bengals at Lambeau Field last Sunday, Green Bay starts a new two-road game streak, against the Arizona Cardinals and Steelers.

The Packers' roster is already facing several significant injuries, so making sure that the field is in a good condition should be key.

Hopefully, the Steelers can get the Acrisure Stadium's grass right before next week's game. The last thing anyone wants is that emotional game between Rodgers and the Packers ending with unnecessary injuries because of bad field conditions.
