Packers get intel on possible Josh Jacobs suspension

The Green Bay Packers will have to get by without two of their most important contributors for the first month-plus of the NFL regular season.

Micah Parsons is aiming for Week 6 as he continues to work his way back from a season-ending ACL injury. Josh Jacobs, on the other hand, is currently on the Commissioner's Exempt List as he deals with the legal fallout of his offseason arrest.

Jacobs' legal team managed to push his hearing date to before the start of the season, potentially expediting his suspension. According to ESPN insider Adam Schefter, Week 1 and beyond might already count against his suspension, and it's looking like at least six weeks.

“While Packers running back Josh Jacobs remains on the Commissioner Exempt list, the NFL could count time spent there as time served for any potential suspension,” Schefter reported on social media. “Some league sources expect this to be the case in the end. In the Collective Bargaining Agreement, there is a six-game minimum for any type of domestic violence. It could be more or less, depending on mitigating factors.”

Given that he's a first-time offender, the league might not lay the hammer as much on the former Las Vegas Raiders star. He just pleaded no contest to two misdemeanor charges of criminal damage and battery, effectively waiving his right to a trial.

While that means the legal case against him is nearing its end, the league is conducting its own investigation to determine the extent of a potential punishment. At least it'll already consider the time he'll miss while it reaches its conclusions.
