After three seasons with the Green Bay Packers, running back Emanuel Wilson will have to find a new home in the NFL.
On Friday, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN reported that Green Bay has decided to not tender Wilson.
“The Packers are not placing a tender on running back Emanuel Wilson, per source. He will be a free agent. Rushed for 496 yards and three touchdowns last year,” Fowler shared via a social media post on X, formerly Twitter.
Now an unrestricted free agent, the 26-year-old Wilson is free to join any team. With that, Green Bay is left with just four running backs at the moment, including star Josh Jacobs, whom Wilson backed up in 2025. The Packers also still have Marshawn Lloyd, Pierre Strong and Damien Martinez. Lloyd has barely seen action for Green Bay as injuries have caused him to miss a bunch of games. In fact, he’s seen the field just once since entering the league in 2024.
Wilson was among those who did not hear their names called at the 2023 NFL Draft, but he was later signed to a contract by the Denver Broncos. After getting waived by Denver, Wilson joined Green Bay in the same year. In 41 games with the Packers, mostly as a backup, he rushed for a total of 1,083 yards and seven touchdowns on 242 carries.
Wilson had his moments in 2025, particularly during a two-game stretch, when the Packers needed him to step up due to an injury to Jacobs. In Week 11 and Week 12, he had a combined output of 147 rushing yards and three touchdowns on 39 carries, while recording 27 receiving yards on three catches and three targets.
