Nagging injuries derailed Packers quarterback Jordan Love’s 2024 season, and Christian Watson’s torn ACL in Week 18 devastated Green Bay’s already beleaguered receiving corps ahead of a playoff loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.

Across the roster, key contributors such as linebacker Edgerrin Cooper, tight at Luke Musgrave, wide receiver Romeo Doubs, and others, all missed time for the Packers last season.

If Green Bay is going to take the next step, staying healthy is going to be a pretty big prerequisite.

Injuries Have Become the Packers’ Biggest Red Flag

Over at CBS Sports, NFL analyst Cody Benjamin put together a list of the biggest red flags for some of the NFL’s true contenders as the 2025 season nears, including “depth and durability” for the Packers.

“It was one thing for Jordan Love to battle multiple injuries in 2024,” Benjamin writes for PFF . “It was another for the quarterback to lose practically his entire receiving corps to various ailments by year’s end. The Packers did their best to bolster their depth this offseason, spending not one but two early draft picks on receiver help, but at the end of the day, Matt LaFleur needs his arsenal to stay on the field to ensure his steady rate of postseason bids continues. That includes on defense, where Nate Hobbs will be tasked with filling the shoes of the also-oft-banged-up Jaire Alexander.”

Packers News: Matt LaFleur Pours Cold Water on Excitement for Possible Early 2025 Return by Christian Watson 1 Green Bay Packers wide receiver Christian Watson (9) leaves the field on a cart after getting injured against the Chicago Bears in the second quarter during their football game Sunday, January 5, 2025, at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wisconsin.

This offseason, the Packers doubled down on quality receiver depth, perhaps even creating a logjam by signing Mecole Hardman and drafting both Matthew Golden and Savion Williams, but at other key positions, lack of depth could still be a big worry at key spots across the roster.

Likewise, it is fair to wonder if the Packers have done enough to bolster the pass rush, which is loaded with underachievers.

If the Packers can’t keep their stars on the field — or find reliable reinforcements when injuries inevitably hit — they’ll be watching the NFC’s true contenders from the outside looking in. In 2025, Green Bay’s greatest opponent might not be across the line of scrimmage, but on the trainer’s table.
