Packers' Jamaal Williams, Kamal Martin out against 49ers due to COVID-19

One day after reports emerged that Green Bay Packers rookie running back AJ Dillon tested positive for COVID-19 and will miss at least Thursday's game against the San Francisco 49ers, two others have been ruled out for the midweek contest.

ESPN's Rob Demovsky is reporting that running back Jamaal Williams and linebacker Kamal Martin are isolating after they were deemed "high-risk close contacts" of Dillon and won't be eligible to face San Francisco.

"They will need to be isolated and remain away from the facility and the team for at least five days after the last contact with the infected individual, which was Sunday," a source told Demovsky. "They would be able to rejoin the team on Saturday. There is no change to the status of the Packers' game on Thursday."

Green Bay first-choice running back Aaron Jones is dealing with a calf injury that sidelined him the past two weeks and could keep him a spectator through Thursday evening. Williams has served as Green Bay's lead ball-carrier during Jones' absence and rushed for 75 yards on 16 attempts in Sunday's loss to the Minnesota Vikings.

Veteran Tyler Ervin, who has four carries this season, could become Green Bay's emergency top back and share work with practice-squad player Dexter Williams against the Niners. Due to health and safety protocols for completing the season amid the health crisis, the Packers cannot sign a back and have him available by Thursday night.
