Packers Jordan Love Stepped Up In 2nd Half of 2023
Lon Horwedel-USA TODAY Sports

The biggest story for the Green Bay Packers during OTAs is the contract extension talks for quarterback Jordan Love. Green Bay currently has a bargain of a contract for him to play the 2024 season out on after the extension the two sides agreed to in 2023.

But, given Jodan Love’s level of production last season, his first as a starter, he has put himself in line for a massive extension. The deal that Jared Goff agreed to with the Detroit Lions could be used as a baseline for the Packers and Love.

After a slow start, the team got on track as Jordan Love got more comfortable under center. Replacing a legend such as Aaron Rodgers is not an easy task, but the Utah State product looks up to the task to this point.

As people debate about how much his contract extension will be worth, some believe he could go right to the top of the quarterback market. Some believe that is premature, but when taking a look at his production from last season, he has earned a top-of-the-market deal.

As shared by Warren Sharp on X, from Week 11 on, there wasn’t a quarterback better in the NFL than Jordan Love. Opponents brought pressure constantly, but he stared it down and made plays regularly to help his team win games.

He was top three in 10 different statistics, including being first in total touchdowns, total passing yards, EPA/attempt, had the lowest sack + interception rate and the best touchdown to interception rate. His one interception was tied for second least.

Most importantly, the Packers went 6-2 over that stretch. That was enough to help the team sneak into the postseason, earning the No. 7 seed in the NFC. Despite being huge underdogs, they pulled off a dominant upset over the Dallas Cowboys.

Jordan Love has made only 18 regular season starts to this point and two more in the playoffs. If that stretch Sharp highlighted is a sign of things to come, the NFL is going to have a lot to deal with as the Packers look to have hit on a star quarterback for a third straight time.
