By and large, Green Bay Packers star quarterback Jordan Love is having a solid start to his 2025 NFL campaign. Although the Packers have failed to record a win in either of their last two outings, including last Sunday’s 40-40 tie with the Dallas Cowboys on the road, Love, overall, has been more than decent under center, so far.
Against the Cowboys, he passed a season-high 337 yards and three touchdowns (all to wide receiverRomeo Doubs) without an interception on 31-of-43 completions. That was a huge way for him to bounce back from his letdown showing in a previous game against the Cleveland Browns in Week 3.
The Packers’ downfield talent on offense isn’t complete yet, with wide receiver Christian Watson still unavailable. Wideout Jayden Reed is also on the injured reserve after going through surgeries after getting injured in Week 2’s win over the Washington Commanders.
All that being said, Love keeps on completing tough passes.
Via Jacob Morley of Packers Report 66:
Jordan Love already has 9 big-time throws in 4 games. He had 17 all of last season. Seems like the “he was just playing hurt last season” crowd may have been on to something.
According to Pro Football Focus, “A big-time throw is a high-difficulty, high-value pass. They are characterized by excellent ball placement and timing, typically on deeper passes or into tight windows.”
Because being under pressure can also factor in on what constitutes a big-time throw, it’s worth noting that Love’s banged-up protection unit has been a reason why he’s forced to make some of those pass attempts.
In any case, there is always the figurative pressure on Love’s shoulders to deliver for Green Bay, which is looking to end its winless skid when it returns to action in Week 6 at home versus the Cincinnati Bengals.
