The Green Bay Packers put their undefeated record on the line on Sunday against the Cleveland Browns on the road, with many feeling confident that Josh Jacobs and company would get the job done at Huntington Bank Field against a team that started the 2025 NFL season with a 0-2 record.
It did not turn out that way, though, with Green Bay absorbing a 13-10 loss to the Browns, who came away with a win despite a 10-point lead in the fourth quarter.
The Packers may have avoided the upset loss if only they had played better on the offensive side of the ball. But Cleveland’s defense proved to be stout enough to limit the production of Green Bay’s attack that averaged 27 points in the first two weeks of the campaign.
Jacobs couldn’t get anything going on the ground, as he finished with just 30 rushing yards on 16 carries for a horrid average of 1.9 yards per rushing attempt.
“We knew they had a No. 1 defense in the NFL right now and one of the best defensive lines in the NFL,” Jacobs said of Cleveland’s stop unit after the game, per Wes Hodkiewicz of Packers.com. “We had some guys get banged up in the game. We had the next-man-up mentality but it’s always going to be a little rough when you got guys going against guys like that on maybe limited snaps. We try to do what we could with what we had. They just had a good game plan for us.”
The former Alabama Crimson Tide star running back entered Week 3 on an 11-game rushing touchdown streak, dating back to the 2024 season.
He looked poised to become just the fifth player in the history of the NFL to have a 12-game rushing TD streak, but he’ll have to start over now after failing to find the end zone versus Cleveland.
As it stands, only LaDainian Tomlinson, John Riggins, Emmitt Smith and George Rogers remain as the only players to pull off such an incredible achievement.
