Packers LB Micah Parsons Shares Update After Tearing ACL

When the Green Bay Packers traded for Micah Parsons before the 2025 season, the expectation was that he would completely change the identity of their defense. For much of the year, that is exactly what happened.

Parsons quickly became one of the NFL’s most disruptive defenders in Green Bay, earning First-Team All-Pro honors after recording 12.5 sacks in just 14 games. Then everything changed in December when the star pass rusher suffered a torn ACL, abruptly ending his season and creating major questions about when he would return to the field.

Now, several months into recovery, Parsons is giving Packers fans another glimpse into the rehab process.

Parsons posted a workout clip to his Instagram story showing him going through jab drills as part of his recovery work. The video also included game footage of him using the same movement technique during live action, highlighting how the rehab process is slowly reconnecting him with the explosiveness that made him one of the league’s elite defenders.

The post comes after Parsons recently admitted that his recovery remains a step-by-step process following what he described as a “pretty severe injury.”

Micah Parsons Continues Working Toward Packers Return

Although Parsons appears to be making encouraging progress, the timeline for his return remains uncertain heading into the 2026 season.

Earlier this offseason, Parsons acknowledged there is still a major difference between simply getting back on the field and returning to his previous All-Pro level.

“There’s always that factor,” Parsons said recently. “I gotta get back to the field, that’s hard. And then I gotta get back to performing at a high level.”

The Packers star also explained that recovery milestones are still arriving gradually.

“The first three months went good, but I gotta learn how to run again soon. I just finished learning how to walk again,” Parsons said.

That makes his latest workout video particularly notable for Green Bay fans. Even small movement drills represent meaningful progress at this stage of ACL rehab, especially for a player whose game depends so heavily on burst, change of direction and explosiveness off the edge.

Packers Still Waiting on Micah Parsons Return Timeline

There is still uncertainty surrounding whether Parsons will be available for Week 1 of the regular season.

Reports throughout the offseason have suggested the former Dallas Cowboys star could begin the year on the physically unable to perform list, which would sideline him for at least the first four games. However, Parsons recently suggested he believes he is either ahead of schedule or progressing well enough to potentially return earlier in the season.

“It really just depends,” Parsons said. “I do feel as if I’m ahead or on track to be there earlier in the season.”

Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst has also expressed optimism about Parsons’ recovery process, though the organization is expected to remain cautious given how important he is to the defense long term.

Micah Parsons Was Dominant Before Injury

Before the ACL tear, Parsons immediately justified Green Bay’s blockbuster trade with the Cowboys.

The 26-year-old edge rusher finished his first season with the Packers with 41 total tackles, 12.5 sacks, two forced fumbles and First-Team All-Pro honors despite appearing in only 14 games.

His ability to pressure quarterbacks transformed Green Bay’s defense and gave the Packers one of the most feared front-seven players in football.

Now, the focus shifts toward getting Parsons healthy enough to eventually return to that level once again.
