Packers lose starting guard Lane Taylor to season-ending knee surgery

Green Bay Packers head coach Matt LaFleur told reporters on Monday that starting offensive guard Lane Taylor is expected to miss the rest of the season due to a knee injury that will require surgery to fix.

As Rob Demovsky of ESPN explained, the Packers believe Taylor tore the ACL in his right knee during Sunday's 43-34 win over division-rival Minnesota.

The 30-year-old will now miss the majority of a season for the second consecutive year. He went on injured reserve last September due to a biceps injury he suffered during a practice.

"It's significant, obviously," LaFleur lamented.

"My heart goes out to him. Just battling back from the significant injury that he had last year and to get to a position where he was in our starting lineup, certainly he will be missed. I feel bad for him as an athlete, as a man. It takes a lot to come back from a significant injury, and he put the time in and put himself in a great position to have a great year. It's always tough to see when somebody goes down."

Taylor joined the Packers as an undrafted free agent in 2013. His contract expires after the season.

Per Jon Meerdink of Acme Packing Company, Taylor previously accepted a pay cut to remain with the Packers.
