Green Bay Packers left tackle Rasheed Walker was arrested at a New York airport on Friday after allegedly trying to carry on a bag that contained a firearm.
According to the New York Post, Walker is being charged with two counts of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon and criminal possession of a firearm. He was released later on after appearing in court.
He reportedly notified an airline employee about a handgun stored in a lockbox inside his bag. This employee notified police, who searched the bag and found a Glock 9mm pistol along with 36 rounds of ammunition.
Arthur Aidala, Walker’s attorney, said that the gun was legally licensed and that Walker was simply unaware that he could not travel with it in New York.
He is due to appear back in court March 19.
