Packers’ Luke Musgrave gets intriguing outlook amid Tucker Kraft buzz
Green Bay Packers: Tucker Kraft Shares Concern Level on Issue That Nearly Became a Bigger Problem 1 Tight ends Tucker Kraft (85) and Luke Musgrave (88) during the 2023 Green Bay Packers’ rookie minicamp on Friday, May 5, 2023 at the Don Hutson Center indoor practice facility in Ashwaubenon, Wis. With a 2-0 record, the Green Bay Packers should be feeling great about how their 2025 NFL campaign has been going. But there’s no reason for them to rest on their laurels. It is still too early in the season.

They also have concerns despite the success they are having. For one, they have a banged-up wide receiving room. Apart from Christian Watson, who is still on the PUP list, Jayden Reed has also become unavailable for Green Bay. Reed suffered a shoulder injury in a 27-18 win over the Washington Commanders in in Week 2’s Thursday Night Football matchup at Lambeau Field.

Still, the Packers have a robust passing attack, especially with tight end Tucker Kraft finally having his breakout game in the NFL. Against the Commanders, Kraft exploded for 124 receiving yards and a touchdown on six receptions and seven targets.

More snaps for Packers TE2?

A fan asked Wes Hodkiewicz of the Packers’ official website about the possibility of Musgrave having increased snaps in the future after collecting 32 receiving yards on two catches against Washington.

“It was good to see Luke Musgrave get some significant looks against Washington. Do you believe he will take more snaps from Tucker Kraft, or with Jayden Reed’s injury, do you think there will be more two tight end sets?” a fan asked.

And here’s Hodkiewicz’s response:

“Probably more the latter than the former. Two tight ends are almost Green Bay’s base offense at this point. Kraft has been on the field pretty much every snap he wasn’t cramping through the first two games (106 of 116, 91.4%). Meanwhile, Musgrave (38) and John FitzPatrick (36) are near-split. But Musgrave can navigate the slot, too, and could help alleviate the absence of Reed.”

Given Kraft’s performance against Washington, it just makes sense for the Packers to keep giving him the same diet of snaps — if not more, given Reed’s injury. At the same time, there’s an opportunity as well for Musgrave to shine downfield. That will be an interesting one to watch out for in Week 3 when Green Bay faces the Cleveland Browns on the road.
