The start of the Green Bay Packers’ Organized Team Activities (OTAs) kicked off on Monday and will conclude on June 5. The team will wrap up its offseason program with a mandatory minicamp scheduled for June 10-12. It is just the first step on Green Bay’s long road in their attempt to return to the Super Bowl.
Unlike past offseasons, the Packers’ 2025 offseason has been relatively smooth for the team and its supporters. The one exception is the ongoing situation with Jaire Alexander. In February, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport revealed that Green Bay was receptive to trade inquiries for the two-time All-Pro. However, by April, new reports indicated that Alexander and the Packers were in talks for him to return to the team.
In the early stages of the offseason, it seemed like the two-time All-Pro cornerback and the team were on track for a split. However, it now appears that a resolution between the two sides is the most likely outcome, with a new report suggesting the Packers have taken another step toward retaining their star cornerback in Green Bay.
According to The Athletic’s Matt Schneidman, the Packers have offered Jaire Alexander a restructured contract, though the two sides have yet to agree.

The two-time All Pro plans to report to Lambeau Field for mandatory minicamp even without one.

Alexander has missed 34 of Green Bay’s last 68 games and holds the third-largest cap hit on the roster for 2025. While he has taken part in the virtual offseason program, he has been absent from all in-person activities so far. However, Schneidman indicated Alexander plans to attend mandatory minicamp.
The best outcome for both sides is Alexander staying in Green Bay. The Packers have no cornerbacks with reliable experience on the outside, and General Manager Brian Gutekunst is unlikely to get value in a trade. Alexander turns 29 in February and has struggled to stay healthy. No team will take his contract and give up draft capital under those conditions.
Jaire Alexander has no guaranteed money remaining on the four-year, $84 million extension he signed in 2022 and may be seeking a more lucrative contract from Green Bay as he approaches his 30s. It is plausible both sides could reach an agreement before training camp begins, or at the latest, by its start.
