Packers make Matthew Golden request amid rookie’s rise

Green Bay Packers rookie wide receiver Matthew Golden continues to get better and more productive as part of the team’s offense.

He has seen a gradual increase in production in the passing game over the last three games, including in Week 6’s 27-18 victory at Lambeau Field over the visiting Cincinnati Bengals, whom he lit up for 86 receiving yards on just three catches and five targets.

In fact, the former Texas Longhorns star wideout paced all NFL rookies in Week 6 in receiving yards.

Selected in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft, Golden has yet to record a touchdown this season, but that should come sooner than later, given what he’s shown on the field so far. A chance to do that comes this weekend when the Packers play the reeling Arizona Cardinals on the road.

Matthew Golden for Rookie of the Week?

On Tuesday, the Packers shared a post on X, formerly Twitter, asking their social media followers and fans to lend them a hand in voting Golden for the Rookie of the Week honor.

There are six rookies on the ballot , including the New York Giants pair of quarterback Jaxson Dart and running back Cam Skattebo, Las Vegas Raiders running back Ashton Jeanty, Carolina Panthers wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan and Indianapolis Colts tight end Tyler Warren, who all had solid showings in Week 6.

Meanwhile, fans had a lot to say about the Packers’ Golden post.

“We need to get him that ROTW belt,” said a fan on X.

Another one said: “Voted for Golden! Just bought his jersey Saturday !

From a commenter: “Lafleur needs to use him more as a WR1 for that

,” a social media user posted.

Via a different commenter: “G”ive him more targets and maybe id consider it”

Said another: “Post more of him admin, you guys always ignore our boy.”
