It came as a surprise when kicker Mason Crosby showed up on the Green Bay Packers’ PUP list.
Crosby was present for the Packers’ mandatory minicamp but did not participate. Wednesday marked the Packers’ first day of training camp practices. Again, Crosby was present but did not participate. Players on the PUP list are not allowed to participate in practices on the field.
When the Packers finished practice for the day, several players and coaches addressed the media. Mike Clements, a reporter who covers the Packers for several radio stations in Southeast Wisconsin, shared what Crosby said about his injury:
#Packers veteran PK Mason Crosby, on the PUP, says he had "a minor scope" after experiencing pain in his right knee during OTA's. Called it "just an oil change. The goal is to be ready by Week 1."

While the exact injury is not known at this time, at least there is an idea about what is going on.
The Packers have one other kicker in training camp: Gabe Brkic. The rookie kicker was originally signed by the Minnesota Vikings after going undrafted in the 2022 NFL Draft. However, he was placed on waivers in early June. The Packers released Dominik Eberle, who they had signed in February, to make room for Brkic.
Brkic played his college football at Oklahoma where he was a three-time semifinalist for the Lou Groza Award. This award is given to the best kicker in the nation. Brkic was a finalist for the award in 2021. Last season, Brkic led the country with five field goals made of 50+ yards. During his four years at Oklahoma, Brkic made 159/160 extra point attempts (99.4 percent) and 57/69 (82.6 percent) of his field goal attempts. His 330 points rank fifth in the history of the Oklahoma Sooners football program.
