Injuries became the prevailing narrative for the Packers‘ season, and ultimately played a key hand in another early exit for Green Bay.
It isn’t difficult to imagine Micah Parsons posting a late-game sack of Bears quarterback Caleb Williams, as he did against Jacoby Brissett and Jared Goff in pivotal end-of-game moments, or Tucker Kraft moving the chains with a key late catch to help stave off Chicago’s comeback efforts. Not to mention, what the defense may have been able to do with a healthy Devonte Wyatt on the field.
Regardless, the Packers’ season ended far earlier than many expected, but it could be a catalyst for some big changes in Green Bay this offseason.
At his year-end press conference, Packers head coach Matt LaFleur revealed that everthing is on the table, in terms of figuring out why Green Bay’s season was so decimated by injuries and how to avoid a similar fate in 2026.
“I think we have to look at everything, from how we train to how we practice,” LaFleur said. “Just trying to find maybe different ways to do things, but those are all the conversations that are ongoing right now, just taking all the data that we have, comparing to other teams or whatever it may be.
“Certainly this year, we had the injury bug a little bit. It’s like all right, can we do something different to avoid that?”
Time will tell what LaFleur’s study into Green Bay’s injuries reveals, but it sure sounds like changes could be coming for how Green Bay handles them and prepares for seasons and games, as a result of them derailing what was previously a promising season.
