Packers’ Matt LaFleur hints at ongoing Christian Watson talks amid WR’s absence

The Green Bay Packers have not been at 100 percent of late, having gone winless in their last two games. Their offense missed a number of key players in those games, including some starters on their offensive line. Meanwhile, their wide receiver room isn’t complete yet, with wideout Christian Watson still on the active/physically unable to perform list.

Packers’ Watson could return to practice after bye week

The Packers have a bye in Week 5 following a 40-40 tie with the Dallas Cowboys in last week’s edition of Sunday Night Football, and among the interesting topics surrounding the team as they head to a long rest is the status of Watson, who suffered an ACL tear during the final Green Bay game in the 2024 NFL regular season.

Watson could be back to practice once the team converges on the field again after the bye week. There is no certainty on that front at the moment, but Green Bay head coach Matt LaFleur has already dropped a hint on it.

Packers coach Matt LaFleur on whether they will open Christian Watson’s practice window after the bye: “That’s been in discussion.”

Added that they still have some time to make a decision before they return to practice next week.

The Packers are currently led downfield by tight end Tucker Kraft, who has 225 receiving yards to go with two touchdowns on 16 receptions and 20 targets. Among wide receivers, Romeo Doubs paces the team with 179 receiving yards and four touchdowns on 13 catches and 19 targets through four weeks.
